Sad but true…….. the much awaited and wonderful trip to Bali being organised by our wonderful Celia Maloney is being postponed due to the latest government warnings to travellers following the execution of the Bali Bombers. This is sad news indeed as it means cancelling the trips with the children which will be dissapointing for them and dissapointing for our supporters looking forward to meeting some of the kids they help fund. Thankyou to everyone who helped organise and support this project.
Anyone still interested when Celia rescedules please contact her on
Gary and I received this email from the CEO of YKIP today;
Dear Gary and Lucy,
Our major donor, Mark Weingard, has just given us a wonderful challenge!
For every dollar donated to YKIP, he will match it with one dollar. Which means, if you are sponsoring a child, then two children get sponsored for the price of one! Or if you’re buying two wheelchairs, you now get four! Or if you’re buying ten boxes of medicines, now you get twenty and on and on…
There is a ceiling of US$200,000 on this challenge, but help us make it to there!
Warm regards,
Rucina
This has certainly given Gary and I more motivation to raise extra funds for these kids. Hope this inspires you as well.
I found this video today on the children of Bali and thought it was very beautiful.
From time to time we are notified that one of our children have dropped below the required level of grades required to maintain their sponsorship. When this happens we are contacted by YKIP to see what we would like to do.
We always ask for the reasons and if there is anything that can be done for the child to help them.
I wanted to share this email with you that we recieved from Rucina (YKIP Ceo) in response;
Dear Lucy and Gary,
We met with the family:. Here’s the situation:
KURNIAWAN: Mother is raising four kids by herself and the eldest child died recently.
He acts out a lot. When we asked the mom if there were problems at home, she said no
but then one of the teachers told us that it’s quite a struggle. RECOMMEND TO KEEP ON.
Thanks, Lucy and Gary

We agreed to keep working with the child, and offered to fund some home tutoring for him to help him through this difficult time.
